The purpose of the Rapid City Sustainability Committee is to encourage education, stewardship and policy leadership that will make our community a leader in economic, social and environmental sustainability.

The Rapid City Standing Committee on Sustainability works with and assists City Departments, including Public Works, Community Development, and Parks & Recreation, while also serving as a resource to the Rapid City Common Council and Mayor.

The Committee works on a variety of projects in partnership with local organizations and various city departments. The Committee hosts the annual Earth Day Event and works with the city to encourage sustainable development and implement environmental practices.
